What Is Rooted Kernel File And Its Usages (Download Auto Kernel Files For Free)

The word Root in mobile repairing, as its first meaning, is accessing the root of your device. That is having total control on your smartphone/tablet and doing some useful processes on your device whose prerequisite is Root Access.

Some of the things you can do by allowing Root Access are:

     • Repairing IMEI, Fixing Serial Number, Repairing & Changing Bluetooth Address and Mac Address of the device and … using Software Boxes

     • Patching the Network, unlocking Network and getting Network Unlock code without paying the credit using Software Boxes

     • Extracting PIT, Cert, QCN files and … using Software Boxes

     • Getting a backup of EFS, NV DATA, BaseBand files and ….

     • Resetting MSL lock and repairing DRK and Sign Key of Cert file and …

     • Unlocking security locks such as Knox, RKP, Tima, Rooting Restriction, DM-Verity, SELinux and …

     • Running more than 20 thousand apps which need Root Access for running. Apps such as Xposed and Magisk and their extraordinary modules!

     • Resetting FRP Lock, permanently resetting RMM State Lock, resetting password lock, pin, pattern, finger print and …

     • Running Linux Command Line via Terminal for doing some professional processes which need SU Shell

     • Flashing Stock or Custom ROM and their partitions such as Kernel, Recovery, and even flashing Stock ROM without using computer and …

     • Managing Custom Kernel (Over Clocking, Under Voltage, configuring Governor,…) is not possible without having Root Access.

     • and lots of other features.

There are a couple of ways to allow Root Access of Samsung devices, one of which is using Rooted Kernel files. This method which is known as "Auto Kernel" is a common method of Rooting for Samsung devices. Its installation is done through laptop or computer. By flashing Auto Kernel file using Odin software, all steps needed for Rooting including turning OFF Knox and security sections and … will be done automatically and your device would be allowing Root Access at the end.

One question that may arise is: what's the difference between Auto Root and Auto Kernel?

The difference is that Auto Root file consists of patched Recovery.img and Cache.img files. Meaning, the Auto Root file is embedded in those two files. After opening Auto Root file in Odin software, these two files start to root the device. But the Auto Kernel file consists of boot.img file only. All the rooting process has already been done in this file and when you open this file in Odin software, in fact no process takes place EXCEPT this file gets replaced with the current Kernel of the ROM of your device and roots it in this way!!!

Next question: Which one is better; Auto Root or Auto Kernel?

I can say Auto Kernel is much better because it currently supports all Android versions and it's not limited to Androids 4.3 to 7.1 as Auto Root did! The next advantage is the ability to UnRoot the device! In some cases when you had rooted the device with Auto Root, you have to flash Official/Stock ROM in order to be able to UnRoot the device. But this problem is solved with Auto Kernel files. With Auto Kernel files, you can UnRoot your device with just one button like it had never been rooted in the first place! Of course Auto Kernel has some other advantages which I will not talk about in this article because I don’t want to make this a long article!

In the following, I intend to introduce some of the free download centers for downloading Auto kernel files. You might be surprised to hear this but Auto Kernel files usually are NOT free!!! If you would like to create Auto Kernel files yourself but you don’t have the programming knowledge, please this article on creating Auto Kernel files without programming knowledge!

Notice: in case you had any problem downloading the files from these download centers, for example, you are not able to download the file or if you faced low download speed, I recommend you to use Virtual Private Networks.

Notice; Auto Kernel file has .tar extension and you can flash them on your device by following the instructions below;

Flashing Samsung Auto Kernel file:

1. Run Odin software by Right clicking on "Odin v3.XX.X.X", then clicking on "Run as administrator";

3. Enter "Download Mode" on your smartphone/tablet and plug it to the ports of laptop or computer using USB cable. (Read this article to learn how to enter Download Mode!)

If the drivers of your smartphone/tablet are not installed, they would start to install now. You'll notice the drivers are installed when you see "Added!!!" message in the "Log" tab and also, one of the boxes in "ID:COM" section of Odin software would be colored! These show the successful installation of the drivers;

4. Click on "Options". Then, click on "AP". In the window that opens, go and find your Auto Kernel file and select it. Then, click on "Open".

Notice; your Auto Kernel file address and the folder names need to be written in Latin alphabet.

5. After opening your Auto Kernel file, you'll see a window like picture below. You need to put the checkmarks of "F.Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot". Now click on "Start" and wait;

6. As you see in the picture, installation process is fast and your device would restart and boot into normal android environment.

DO NOT PLUG OUT your device UNTIL you see "PASS!" message in ODIN software!!! After that you can plug out your device.

Notice: if your smartphone/tablet has Android version 6.0 or higher, you might see an error (Verification Failed) like in the picture below, after your device restarts. It is related to Data encryption of your device. In such cases, you need to reset your device to factory state by clicking on Reset Device/Phone OR by flashing Stock or Custom Recoveries.
