have you tried another charger or another battery?
have u checked the charging IC working conditions?
have u used a multimeter at all to measure anything?
Can u post some voltages for us, 19v input, current sense resistor, battery mosfet working conditions etc?
have u checked the adapter voltage19v) and detection pin(3v) and with DSO?
have u checked data and CLK (SMBUS line for battery?)
have u checked for any short on the battery line?

I like this ur question from step 5-7
On this question can u please show me the schematic block diagram on this particular board model number (HP EliteBook 840 G1 6050a2560201-MB-A03)......That show the outline of
1: pin(3v) and DSO
2: Data and CLK (SMBUS line for battery
3: Short on the battery line.
I will be very glade if you can attach me the video or block diagram view that explain the step 5-7 of ur question please.

My job is not to find and give u the correct answers, my support here is to make u THINK so u can do your own research from the pointers I give you. If u don't have a board& schematics, then you need to google, check dr bios forum for that, and watch youtube and try to find it etc if u don't understand BIOS pins and working conditions, voltages and how to use an oscilloscope then google, research Dr bios and try to find those answers... That's how I did it, and that's how I do every day... That's how we all do and that's how we learn.. It's not my job to do that for you, right?
revert back here after you have done your research, follow the steps I wrote earlier etc..

for example, have u googled: HP showing 255% (if so, what did u find?)

Do you know how to use a multimeter when troubleshooting?
Do you know how to troubleshoot the working conditions of charging ic? What steps to follow 1, 2, 3 etc.. Vcc, En, 3v ldo, vref etc?

if u don't know this stuff, then google and watch dr bios videos to learn those things first.

The issue might even be with the SMC/ super IO

if dr bios dont have schematics, u can check vinafix.com, and https://www.badcaps.net/forum/index.php

Good, it's the only way to learn... follow the pointers I wrote first. after u did, post here again, what do you find? thanks.. best if u fill in with red text under each question after you done. Like this for example:

have you tried another charger or another battery?
yes, I have switched to the new battery and the same issue blah blah blah.

have u checked the charging IC working conditions?
xx...x........x........x.....

have u used a multimeter at all to measure anything?
Yes, I know how to troubleshoot with a multimeter 100%.

Can u post some voltages for us, 19v input, current sense resistor, battery MOSFET working conditions etc?
have u checked the adapter voltage19v) and detection pin(3v) and with DSO?
have u checked data and CLK (SMBUS line for battery?)
have u checked for any short on the battery line?

if u reply like this for each question, it will go much faster to find your issue. it's important each member of Dr bios, do the same, IMPORTANT to answer each of the questions we ask. thanks
