Inside the Apple T2 research, even though the T2 chip has complex internal services, firmware and activation locks are actually enforced by the Secure Enclave and Apple’s provisioning process.
The attacks described are research-level and require a trusted OS already running. They are not usable for power-on locked devices or board-level repair work.
Replacing or reprogramming the T2 chip without Apple’s official provisioning tools will not produce a working system and usually results in a dead board.
