Technical Support Dell G3 3579 LA-F611P

Hi,

I have a Dell G3 3579, board model: LA-F611P. Unit starts charging for a split second and the stops and goes to idle (see video for reference). I have been struggling with this problem on this model for more than a year. I have had about 5 of them and could not repair one.

I have checked data circuit of charger, it works and unit does recognize charger. I checked battery data circuit as well, unit does pickup battery and all the data, could not find a fault on the circuit. I have tried a new working battery and a new working charger and a new working DC Jack. Still same problem. I have tried to rewrite bios with ClearME from Dr-Bios, still same problem. I have tried a build bios from Dell bios update with ClearME + Clear PMC, same problem.

Any advice?

Hello
In the picture, a converter cable is used for the battery, it may be disconnected.
Then it is better to measure the voltage from the battery socket pins and check the voltage, when the battery is not recognized, which pin will change its voltage and check the same pin.

I tested pin 5 (BATT_PRS) - 3.3v with battery and without battery is the same

According to the operation you did, first the charging IC and then the SIO IC can play a role in identification.

Yes, but the identification is not the problem, laptop does identify battery and charger correctly.

Sorry, in video that is me unplugging charger and after that I plugged charger in again to show that it starts charging for split second and then stop.
