Start the resistance test from the input jack. The input jack may be connected.
Next you need to test the charging circuit. Test two input MOSFETs. If the MOSFETs are burned, you probably have a + b connection as well.
If you leave a schematic link of the motherboard, I will guide you on a better schematic.
