In this Lesson there is Hp pavilion G6, Platform is quanta Rev: D R23

What is the problem with motherboard? It starts in normal way but touchpad and keyboard are not working. He has changed the keyboard with another one. And it had no problem, in previous service the multicontroller changed but there were no reaction and it had the same problem. Multicontroller its model is KB3930QFA1. The laptop starts but keyboard does not turn on, after pressing on enter, there is no reaction on other components too. Only wireless LED turns on and caps lock’s LED does not turn on.

On which account he has changed the multicontroller? Touchpad connector and keyboard are connected to multicontroller and they enter to AMD FCH. He starts diagnosing from touchpad. Touchpad connector has 6 pins. He has tested and on third pin touchpad clock signal, it’s not there, when he starts the motherboard, 3.3v is there and later it ends to zero. He has changed the chipset, after replacement, it worked in normal way.

In the schematic, He shows you the Keyboard and touchpad are connected to multicontroller and KBC are connected to AMD FCH. Third pin of the touchpad connector has not signal clock, means its voltage is absent. 3.3v appears and then it gets disconnected. It reaches to 5v then again becomes zero. In this pin, there must be MAX 3.3v. He used and changed the chipset, instead of 218-0755046; replace it by 218-755042. After replacement, all of them worked without any problem. It’s a common problem in Hp pavilion. The problem caused by multicontroller, it works in normal way but it does not match with keyboard controller and Touchpad.
