Find easy answers about ASUS BIOS files, black screen after BIOS update, missing NVMe/SSD, BIOS recovery mode, boot loops, RGB keyboard issues and power errors.
• If your ASUS laptop or motherboard shows a black screen after a BIOS update, the update may have failed or the BIOS may be corrupted.
• This can happen if the BIOS update was interrupted, the wrong BIOS file was used, or the system restarted before the update finished. In some cases, ASUS BIOS recovery may work. In harder cases, the BIOS chip may need to be programmed with a clean BIOS dump.
• If your NVMe SSD, M.2 SSD, hard drive or SATA drive is not detected in BIOS, first check the physical connection, SSD health, slot compatibility and BIOS settings.
• If the drive and connector are good but the BIOS still cannot detect storage, the issue can be related to BIOS settings, corrupted NVRAM, chipset configuration or a damaged BIOS region.
• ASUS systems may show messages like “WARNING! BIOS Recovery mode has been detected” when the BIOS is damaged or the system enters CrashFree BIOS recovery mode.
• Try official ASUS BIOS recovery first. If recovery fails, the BIOS file may need to be prepared for the exact model and motherboard revision, then programmed directly to the SPI BIOS chip.
• If your ASUS laptop or PC keeps opening BIOS again and again, it may not be finding a valid boot device or boot configuration.
• Check whether your SSD/HDD is detected, remove unnecessary USB devices, reset BIOS settings to default, check boot order and test each drive one by one. If the problem started after BIOS changes or update, NVRAM or BIOS configuration may need repair.
• If an ASUS laptop does not turn on after a BIOS update, the BIOS, EC firmware, ME region or power management data may be corrupted.
• In repair cases, always keep a backup of the original SPI dump before writing a new file. Some ASUS boards have more than one SPI chip, so the correct chip and voltage must be identified before programming.
• If RGB keyboard light, keyboard backlight or special function keys stop working after BIOS work, it may be related to EC firmware, keyboard controller data or firmware configuration.
• Messages like “Check System Power Error: Please plug in AC Adapter” can also appear after BIOS or firmware problems. If the adapter and charging circuit are normal, BIOS/EC configuration may need to be checked.
